Darwin Mauricio Garzón Oyola │ Benthic Foraminifera

I am a Geologist and a student of MSc in Earth Sciences at the University of Caldas (Manizales-Colombia). My field of research is related to the study of benthic foraminifera and their integration in the analysis of deep paleoceanographic conditions, in order to reconstruct the paleoecological, paleoenvironmental and paleobathymetric conditions in ancient deposits of the NW margin of South America (Colombian Caribbean and Pacific Basin).

My research project involves the sedimentological, micropaleontological and geochemical analysis of benthic foraminifera during the Eocene-Oligocene and Oligocene-Miocene boundaries in the ANH-Costa Azul-1 and ANH-San Jacinto-1 wells (Colombian Caribbean): Reconstruction of deep paleoceanographic conditions.

Currently, I am a researcher at the Research Institute of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology (IIES), in the Foraminifera group.
