Jhonatan Martinez Murcia │ Stratigraphy

I am a Geologist from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), My main interests include the study of fossil palinomorphs and their ecological and environmental implications, as well as the analysis of phytoliths in pre-Hispanic individuals.  My research projects incorporate: The analysis of the Eocene paleoflora in the Middle Magdalena Valley Basin, and The bio-cultural reconstruction of the paleo-diet in populations of the Quimbaya period in the Chinchiná River Basin. Currently, I am a researcher at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) and I belong to the Palynology group at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Estratigrafía (IIES) of the Universidad de Caldas, where I also join as an MSc student in Earth Sciences.
