I am a Geologist and an MSc in Earth Sciences from the University de Caldas (Colombia). My main interests are palynology and stratigraphy, although I also collaborate in other areas related to micropaleontology with some of my colleagues. My research projects involve palynological, stratigraphic and paleoenvironmental analysis in different Neogene units in central-western Colombia. This, besides other proxies, allows us to recognize the paleoflora and environmental conditions of these units over geological time.
Currently, I am investigating the application of convolutional neural networks (CNN) for the identification of general palynological groups. I belong to the IIES palynology group, and I am a member of the Research Group on Stratigraphy and Volcanology (GIEV) Cumanday.
