Basin Analysis

Sedimentary basin analysis is a geologic method by which the history of a sedimentary basin is revealed, by analyzing the sediment fill itself. Aspects of the sediment, namely its composition, primary structures, and internal architecture, can be synthesized into a history of the basin fill. Such a synthesis can reveal how the basin formed, how the sediment fill was transported or precipitated, and reveal sources of the sediment fill. From such syntheses models can be developed to explain broad basin formation mechanisms. Examples of such basinal environments include backarcforearcpassive marginepicontinental, and extensional basins.

El análisis de la cuenca sedimentaria es un método geológico mediante el cual se revela la historia de una cuenca sedimentaria , analizando el relleno de sedimento en sí. Los aspectos del sedimento, a saber, su composición, estructuras primarias y arquitectura interna, se pueden sintetizar en una historia del relleno de la cuenca. Tal síntesis puede revelar cómo se formó la cuenca, cómo se transportó o precipitó el relleno de sedimento, y revelar las fuentes del relleno de sedimento. A partir de estas síntesis, se pueden desarrollar modelos para explicar mecanismos amplios de formación de cuencas. Ejemplos de tales entornos basales incluyen backarc , forearc , margen pasivo , epicontinentaly cuencas extensionales .

I am a geologist from the Universidad de Caldas with an MSc in Geology from the Universitat de Barcelona. With 11+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, I developed a balanced understanding of various geological disciplines used in the hydrocarbon exploration process, there I applied essential skills to analyze sedimentary basins from play-based exploration, regional and detailed seismic interpretation, seismic and sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, among others. I am currently working as an interpreter geologist in the basin analysis group of the Instituto de Investigaciones en Estratigrafía (IIES) of the Universidad de Caldas.

I am a Geologist of the Universidad de Caldas (Manizales-Colombia), MSc in Earth Sciences from the same university. I have worked in REDCOM as professional for ECOPETROL in the field of development reservoir. Currently, I am a researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Estratigrafía (IIES) in the basin modeling sector. I have strong capabilities in 3D modeling and seismic interpretation. Currently, I am in the Basin Analysis group of this institute, and I belong to the Research Group in Stratigraphy and Vulcanology (GIEV) Cumanday.

I am Geologist and master student from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia). My main interests are ichnology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, and its integration into sedimentary facies analysis, reconstruction of ancient depositional environments and sequence stratigraphic analysis Currently, I am Researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Estratigrafía – IIES and Grupo de Investigación en Estratigrafía y Vulcanología – GIEV – Cumanday. I belong to the basin analysis group.

I am a Geologist from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), MSc in Earth Sciences from the same university, and MSc Universidad de Granada (Spain). I am PhD student in Earth Sciences from the Universidad de Granada (Spain). My main interests are sedimentology and icnology, and its integration with other tools for basin analysis. I belong to the Basin Analysis group of this institute, and I am a member of the Research Group on Stratigraphy and Volcanology (GIEV) Cumanday.

I am Geologist from Universidad de Caldas (Colombia). My main interests are petrography of sedimentary rocks, heavy minerals and geochronology. However, I collaborate in other areas such as stratigraphy in which my colleagues are experts. My research project involves the study of Early Eocene Sandstones (Ypresian) formation of San Cayetano in the NW of Colombia, trying to explain the Provenance of sediments that are deposited, and also, the paleogeography of the zone. Currently, I am researcher to the basin analysis group, and I am a member of the Research Group on Stratigraphy and Volcanology (GIEV) Cumanday.

Lorem Ipsum es simplemente el texto de relleno de las imprentas y archivos de texto. Lorem Ipsum ha sido el texto de relleno estándar de las industrias desde el año 1500, cuando un impresor (N. del T. persona que se dedica a la imprenta) desconocido usó una galería de textos y los mezcló de tal manera que logró hacer un libro de textos especimen. I am Geologist and MSc in Earth Sciences from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), and PhD candidate in Geology at the University of Florida (USA). My main interests are focus on the tectonic evolution of the Northern Andes, creation-destruction of continental crust in convergent margins, and co-evolution of cordilleran massifs and sedimentary basins. To investigate these themes, I use geochemistry, radiogenic isotopes, and geo-thermochronology. I am currently PhD candidate and teaching assistant at the University of Florida. I also serve as external adviser in geo-thermochronology and tectonics at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Estratigrafía IIES (Manizales, Colombia), and I am a member of the Research Group on Stratigraphy and Volcanology (GIEV) Cumanday.

I am Geologist and Msc from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), and PhD in Sciences – Geotectonic from the Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil). My main interests includes regional geology and tectono-stratigraphy of convergent margins to understand the tectonic controls in the basin-orogen evolution. The geodynamic and paleogeographic reconstructions proposed by me and my colleagues are based on the integration of multiple tools (field geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, provenance analysis, paleomagnetism, geochemistry, geochronology, and thermochronology). Additionally, I am interested in applying and developing stratigraphy, petrography and provenance analysis of sedimentary rocks for the evaluation and characterization of reservoirs.

I am Geologist from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), Specialist in Environmental Consulting from the Universidad de León (Spain), MSc in Direction and Management of Human Resources from the Universidad de Barcelona (Spain), and student of the Master of Earth Sciences from the Universidad de Caldas (Colombia). My main interests are environmental geology and sedimentary rock provenance analysis, although I also collaborate in other areas such as the direction and management of projects. My research project involves the provenance of the Middle-Late Miocene in the ANH-Los Pájaros-1X well (San Jacinto Folded Belt) and its paleogeographic implications for the Colombian Caribbean. Currently, I am the administrative coordinator of this institute and belong to the Scientific Committee.
